After navigating the piddly streets of Cesky, with much help from the locals, we finally found our accommodation and dumped our gear before heading out to see the town. Cesky is a real backpacker's place; everything is either a pub, restaurant, hostel, or souvenir shop, and the beer is really cheap. Our first night was spent tentatively deciphering a menu of the local specials (Gavin had 'Trout Grandma Style', which means fried whole, with salt and herbs encrusting it) and, of course, enjoying the local dark beer made at the towns brewery. We then walked up to the town castle to try and spy the bears in the grass moat by the castle gate. We succeeded, but they were curled up sleeping and generally ignoring us, so we decided to return in the morning.
In the morning they were far more lively, and were feeding when we arrived. They were eating, patrolling the perimeter, swimming in their pond and playing with each other - they looked just like a little old married couple :) After loitering far too long at their enclosure and taking way too many photos, we climbed the castle tower to check out the views, then headed on to see the rest of the castle gardens and grounds.
Later in the day we made our way to Prague...
